SUMMARY:The Prismatic Lens of Lizzie Tian
DESCRIPTION:Image Description: On a multi-colored background is the following text: “POSITIVE EXPOSURE GALLERY\, The Prismatic Lens of Lizzie Tian. Pure Vision Arts. September 28 – November 1\, 2023. Positive Exposure\, 14 E. 109th St\, NYC. Viewings by appointment. All are welcome!” Below is the New York Council on the Arts logo. 212-420-1931. At center is a grid featuring several of Lizzie’s paintings.\nGuggenheim: The Art of Autism: A Window into the World of Neurodiversity \nLizzie Tian’s autism has profound imprints in her artwork. This exhibition reflects\nLizzie’s way of seeing\, processing and engaging with her immediate environment.\nLizzie draws swiftly and colors quickly. Her process is intense and highly focused\,\nregulating her own sensory processing of new sights. Using simple and smooth\nlines\, Lizzie extracts the essence out of a complicated visual image. This series\nincludes subway portraits\, pedestrians\, landscapes and everyday objects. \nLizzie often uses only 3-5 colors for her pastel/oil pastel paintings. Each of the\ncolors is generously applied\, which create intensity as well as clarity for her\npaintings. Her rushed strokes and unique perspectives\, expose Lizzie’s uncensored experiences. \nThere is something guiding Lizzie’s artworks that is specific to her personal\ninterpretation of the subject. She is always respectful of the subject’s own agency\nand identity\, whether it be a person\, a bird\, or an inanimate object. She paints\noften with music in mind. \nEach line is intentional and considerate in its scope: insightful yet informed by\nhistory. \n-Anthony Jay Ptak
