SUMMARY:Introducing the New York Disability Rights Archive
DESCRIPTION:Introducing the New York Disability Rights Archive\n\nOn View October 16\, 2025 – January 31\, 2026\nDrop-In Guided Tours: Saturday\, January 10\, 11am – 4pm\nVisits by Appointment : Monday – Friday 10am – 6pm; Saturday 10am – 2pm\nPlease Contact: events@positiveexposure.org\nLearn more about the archive—and the long fight for accessible transportation in New York City. The New York Disability Rights Archive\, established in 2021\, preserves the records\, stories\, and strategies of local activists and advocates. Many of these individuals helped drive the movement that led to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and continue to push for change today.\nTransportation access is the archive’s most extensively documented topic area. Explore highlights that trace the evolution of New York City’s transportation system from the post–World War II era to the present—and witness how decades of activism reshaped the city.\n\nImage Description: Introductory poster with information about the event and a collage of photos and pamphlet covers from the New York Disability Rights Archive related to accessible transportation.

SUMMARY:PICTURING THE PERSONAL: Photographs by the Josephine Herrick Project
DESCRIPTION:PICTURING THE PERSONAL\n83 Maiden Lane\, 4th Floor\nOn view by appointment through 2025\n Please contact events@positiveexposure.org.\nPicturing the Personal brought people who have faced the challenges of traumatic brain injury to explore visual storytelling together. Each class dove into new photographic mediums including instant prints\, digital photography\, image transfers\, cyanotypes\, and layered elements of drawing\, collage\, and written text.\nLead artist Claire Gilliam taught participants about photographers who pushed the boundaries of what photography is and could be. She encouraged participants to photograph their personal life and to question what a self-portrait means to them.\nThe Josephine Herrick Project amplifies underrepresented voices through photography\, giving people the tools to see differently\, communicate across cultures\, and advocate for themselves and their communities.\n\nImage Description: On the top left\, in white atop a black background are a logo and text: “JOSEPHINE HERRICK PROJECT”. To the right on the header in black\, gray\, and red text on a white background reads: PICTURING THE PERSONAL Photographic Art Exhibition; Join us!
