SUMMARY:University of Louisville: Community - based Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Introductory Panel \nChange How You See\, See How You Change is a photography exhibition that redefines medicine as a deeply human experience. Created with local participants and University of Louisville health sciences students\, this portrait collection highlights the people behind the diagnoses—celebrating their joy\, strength\, and individuality. \nEach image tells a story\, reminding us that patients are more than their conditions—they are individuals with rich lives and identities. As you explore\, we invite you to reflect on the power of empathy in healthcare and the importance of truly seeing and understanding those we care for. \nIn partnership with POSITIVE EXPOSURE\, the University of Louisville Health Sciences Office of Health Equity and Engagement\, the KornhauserHealth Sciences Library\, and the School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics\, this exhibition underscores our shared human experiences.  \n

SUMMARY:Visiting Artist: Scott Hovis\, Unfiltered Signal
DESCRIPTION:Unfiltered Signal: Opening Saturday May 16\, 5-8pm \nIn recognition of Tourette Syndrome Awareness Month: May 15 – June 15 \nOn view through June 16\, 2026. Contact events@positiveexposure.org to arrange a visit! \nThis exhibition explores neurodiversity through raw abstraction and fragmented figuration-transforming lived experience into visual language. \nScott Hovis II is not only an artist — he’s an activist hoping to raise awareness about the power of creativity in helping with mental and physical struggles. \nHis abstract art is his way of making “beauty through pain.” Hovis has lived with Tourette Syndrome (TS)\, a condition of the nervous system. While it’s most well known for symptoms causing involuntary word repetition\, it can also cause twitches and ticks. \n \n \n \n  \n
