SUMMARY:University of Louisville: Community - based Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Introductory Panel \nChange How You See\, See How You Change is a photography exhibition that redefines medicine as a deeply human experience. Created with local participants and University of Louisville health sciences students\, this portrait collection highlights the people behind the diagnoses—celebrating their joy\, strength\, and individuality. \nEach image tells a story\, reminding us that patients are more than their conditions—they are individuals with rich lives and identities. As you explore\, we invite you to reflect on the power of empathy in healthcare and the importance of truly seeing and understanding those we care for. \nIn partnership with POSITIVE EXPOSURE\, the University of Louisville Health Sciences Office of Health Equity and Engagement\, the KornhauserHealth Sciences Library\, and the School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics\, this exhibition underscores our shared human experiences.  \n

SUMMARY:Your Voice Matters: Creative Writing as Self-Advocacy
DESCRIPTION:Join authors Amy Hansen and Josh Lockwood-Wewer\, along with publisher Kelly Hoopes\, for an interactive writing workshop that explores how creative writing and publishing can help people use their voices and tell their own stories.\nRSVP using the Register button above.\n\n\nStorytelling is a powerful form of self-advocacy. Sharing our own experiences\, perspectives\, ideas\, dreams and creativity is an important part of being seen\, understood and included.\nBut sometimes just getting started is the hardest part.\nHear how See Me and The Schoolyard Crisis: A Captain Peanut Adventure came to life\, learn about the authors’ experiences using storytelling to express themselves\, and then explore ways to begin telling a story of your own. Through guided writing activities and story starters\, everyone will have a chance to create and share something of their own.\nThe first 25 registrants will receive a Getting Started goodie bag and a signed copy of both books.\n  \n  \nAlt-Text: \nOn a black background are images of two book covers: one featuring an illustration of a young woman dancing in a field\, surrounded by flowers and a rainbow; the second showing a group of children gathered on the grass beside an elephant dressed as a superhero. \nThe text reads: Your Voice Matters: Creative Writing as Self-Advocacy\, Author Talk & Getting Started Workshop\, Saturday\, October 3\, 11am – 1pm\, 83 Maiden Lane\, 4th Floor\, NYC. \nThe second page includes photos of each of the below speakers\, along with their bios. \nAmy Hansen\, Author of See Me. Amy is a Positive Exposure Ambassador\, writer\, and performer whose first book\, See Me\, is a celebration of inclusion. Through her story told in verse\, Amy encourages readers to see the ability beyond differences\, join the celebration\, and recognize the humanity in every person. \nJosh Lockwood-Wewer\, Author of The Schoolyard Crisis: A Captain Peanut Adventure. Josh is a storyteller and artist with a unique talent for transforming his life experience into imaginative and heartwarming tales. His book features a peanut-loving elephant superhero and emphasizes the importance of working together\, expressing feelings\, and taking responsibility for our own actions. \nKelly Hoopes\, Publisher. Kelly is co-founder and President of Self-Determination Tech Alliance\, a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding access to digital tools\, workforce pathways\, and entrepreneurial opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities.
