DESCRIPTION:In 1939\, the Nazi regime launched Aktion T4\, a state-sponsored program that murdered over 300\,000 disabled people. Disposable Humanity uncovers this largely forgotten history through a 25-year investigation by the Mitchell family.\n\nOn Friday\, September 4th at 4pm\, join us at the gallery for a screening and live Q&A\, or tune-in online for the global online premiere.\nThe Q&A will be moderated by NYU Professor of Anthropology\, Dr. Faye Ginsburg\, and paneled by the director Cameron S. Through conversations with memorial directors\, disabled people\, and relatives of T4 victims they uncover the horrifying truth: that the Nazi Aktion T4 program\, was in fact the program where the Nazis trained killing staff and designed the apparatus of mass murder that led to the Holocaust. Disabled people were the first victims to be killed under the Third Reich and in this investigative documentary\, the Mitchells reveal how this history has been covered over and erased from international public memory.

DESCRIPTION:The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker and a workshop about coming to terms with a facial difference.  All are welcome!\nSynopsis: Born with a rare condition requiring over 50 cranial reconstructive surgeries\, 36-year-old Corey searches for normalcy\, love\, and acceptance in a swipe-left\, swipe-right world. Lingad started his career as a camera assistant on TV shows\, commercials\, and narrative films in 2008. He got his break in journalism in 2011 when he was hired as a videographer and editor by The Wall Street Journal. He worked with its sister companies\, MarketWatch and Barron’s\, as a video journalist for six years\, developing various news stories from income inequality to the student loan crisis to America’s epidemic of loneliness.  Joseph gravitates to stories about social and socioeconomic issues and corporate accountability. \nAfter over a decade working in a newsroom\, Joseph returned to school in 2022 to obtain a master’s in business and economics reporting\, specializing in documentary. While at school\, Joseph developed a short version of “Don’t Look Away” as his Capstone project under the guidance of award-winning filmmakers Yoruba Richen\, Judith Helfand\, Sabrina Gordon\, and others.Joseph is now working on his first feature-length documentary\, “Don’t Look Away\,” which includes his story of his struggle living with a facial difference. Unlike the short version\, the full-length documentary is about how a community helps each other come to terms with their facial difference in a society that is sometimes hostile to those who look different. He hopes to have a final cut by 2028.
