SUMMARY:A Portrait of Medical Humanities: Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:POSITIVE EXPOSURE GALLERY\, NYC DECEMBER 2023 ~ JANUARY 2024 OPENING: \nDECEMBER 16\, 2023\, 2-6pm \nThis exhibition is a contination of the collaboration between Positive Exposure\nand Creighton University. In February 2023\, Positive Exposure exhibited the Many Faces\nof Neurofibromatosis. These portraits were created by Rachel Mindrup\, MFA\, Associate Professor and Richard L. Deming\, MD Endowed Chair in Medical Humanities at Creighton University. In May\, Rick Guidotti traveled to Omaha to spend time taking portraits of Nebraskans living with various genetic disorders. Some of the photos from his exhibition held at Creighton’s Lied Art Gallery\, “Change How You See\, See How You Change” are on display at this exhibition. \nThe students at Creighton University responded to Rick’s work and created some\nof their own interpretations from personal experiences. This exhibition is a collection\nof work by Creighton University School\nof Medicine students (Omaha and Phoenix campuses)\, Creighton University School of Dentistry and Creighton University College of Arts and Sciences. The bridge between art and medicine is central to the theme of the exhibition and central to the development of caring and empathetic physicians at Creighton University. We hope our future physicians and healthcare workers will always remember the humanity behind the medicine. \n\n\n\nCreighton University\n\n\n\n\nImage 1: Boy in blue shirt looking into the lens.
