DESCRIPTION:We have partnered with the Josephine Herrick Project t0 host a 12-week photo program for individuals with traumatic brain injuries and those who care for them or work in the field. \nThese classes will cover the basics of photography\, composition\, and visual storytelling\, and will work in a series of projects that include tactile elements. \nThe Josephine Herrick Project\, located around the corner from us at 64 Fulton Street\, aims to amplify underrepresented voices through photography\, giving people the tools to see differently\, communicate across cultures\, and advocate for themselves and their communities. \nThe JHP is partnering with a chapter of the Brain Injury Association of New York State to offer this program. This workshop empowers participants to craft short visual narratives that reflect their personal journeys—whether as advocates\, professionals\, caregivers\, or individuals with lived experience of disability.\n\nLed by FRAME (Faces Redefining the Art of Medical Education) filmmakers and a licensed social worker\, the workshop offers a safe\, creative space to explore documentary storytelling fundamentals\, film using your phone\, and edit on your own laptop (or one we can provide). By the end\, each participant will complete a 3 minute documentary piece to be featured in a group exhibition at the Positive Exposure gallery. A unique opportunity to celebrate and elevate stories rooted in lived experience.
