United Nation Conference: Changing Attitudes and Fighting Stereotypes for an Inclusive Society.
10:00-11:30am, conference room 5 at the UN.
Activities to implement the CRPD and create more inclusive societies are often met with segregated social environments, stereotypes and negative attitudes towards people with disabilities. These create barriers for the implementation of many of the CRPD articles. This event will present inter-sectorial public awareness and training programs from around the world, from both governments and civil society organizations, aimed at assisting in the implementation of CRPD articles, as well as the full participation of people with disabilities in the process.
Panelists include:
Rick Guidotti, Positive Exposure
Gabor Gambos, International Disability Alliance
Verena Bentele , Federal Government Commissioner for Matters relating to Disabled Persons, Germany
Ahiya Kamara, Commissioner for Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Israel
Eric Mathews, Associate Director, Disability Rights International
