Acrostics workshop with medical students 11-1 @ Positive Exposure

Members of the poetry collective Poets, of Course will be collaborating with Positive Exposure on a creative poetry workshop for medical students. The aim of this gathering is to upend the heavily medical perspective of disability and to find a way to embrace a larger wholeness of experience and understanding. The poets are veteran performers who are a regular part of the NYC Poetry Festival and have also contributed to events at CUNY, and local independent bookshops. We are a collective of creative people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our normal might not be your normal. We are smooth and soft like ice cream on a hot day. We occupy new dimensions. We respect each other and help each other. The group is an arena for expressing our basic feelings about our lives. We include and acknowledge our partnerships with the direct support professionals that support us. We are dazzling and proudly present our neurodivergent creativity for all.
