PICTURING THE PERSONAL

83 Maiden Lane, 4th Floor

On View November 5 – 10, by appointment only.
Please contact events@positiveexposure.org.
Picturing the Personal brought people who have faced the challenges of traumatic brain injury to explore visual storytelling together. Each class dove into new photographic mediums including instant prints, digital photography, image transfers, cyanotypes, and layered elements of drawing, collage, and written text.
Lead artist Claire Gilliam taught participants about photographers who pushed the boundaries of what photography is and could be. She encouraged participants to photograph their personal life and to question what a self-portrait means to them.
The Josephine Herrick Project amplifies underrepresented voices through photography, giving people the tools to see differently, communicate across cultures, and advocate for themselves and their communities.
