ID: On a yellow background with pastel-colored text boxes is the following text: “From Inaccessibility to Pathologized Mobility in NYC: Finding Affordances in a Pandemic”. Join us for a presentation of the postdoctoral research of Yan Grenier (Center for Disability Studies of New York University). Led during the pandemic, this interview-based research first explored the pre-pandemic mobility experiences of disabled people in NYC in relation to the transportation infrastructure. The research then inquired about the impacts of the pandemic on people’s mobility habits, and how they found new affordances and strategies to inhabit the world during the lockdowns. The presentation will be accompanied by an audio-textual exhibit featuring the stories of some of the research participants. Monday, May 22: 5:30-7:30pm: Exhibit open house. Tuesday, May 23: 5:30-7:30pm: Presentation by Yan Grenier. Positive Exposure, 14 E. 109th St, New York, NY. This project was made possible with the generous support of the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture.
