Learn more about the archive—and the long fight for accessible transportation in New York City. The New York Disability Rights Archive, established in 2021, preserves the records, stories, and strategies of local activists and advocates. Many of these individuals helped drive the movement that led to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and continue to push for change today.
Transportation access is the archive’s most extensively documented topic area. Explore highlights that trace the evolution of New York City’s transportation system from the post–World War II era to the present—and witness how decades of activism reshaped the city.
