Faculty Development Program. NYU Dentistry Center for Oral Health Policy & ManagementPositive Exposure/ Rick Guidotti will present during this session:

This lecture will create opportunities to hear from and explore the experiences of people living with a variety of genetic, physical, behavioral, and intellectual differences. The lecture will provide a “lens” into various genetic conditions and give a “voice” to those featured in the photographs and their respective families.  The NYU Community will be able to hear from individuals and their families living with genetic conditions through innovative multimedia tools developed by Positive Exposure.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the social and psychological experiences of people of all ages and ethno-cultural heritages living with genetic, physical, behavioral and intellectual differences.
  2. Discuss ways to best meet the needs of children and families with, or at risk for a genetic disorder.
  3. Explore opportunities to see each individual living with a genetic difference first and foremost as a human being with his/her own special needs, rather than as a specific diagnosis/disease entity.

The Faculty Development Program will take place twice weekly on Wednesdays and repeated on Thursdays, with one session each day from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. Both sessions will occur in the Nagle Auditorium. Lunch will be provided.

The sessions will also be simultaneously broadcast by Zoom. The goal in offering the same topic over two days is to maximize the opportunity for faculty to attend. One session will also be recorded and archived in NYU iLearn as a resource for NYU Dentistry faculty.

Upon completing the session evaluation, participants will receive one credit hour of Continuing Dental Education (CDE) for each FDP session in which they participate.

Throughout the fall and spring semesters, NYU Dentistry will provide FDP programming in five areas:

  • Teaching, Learning, Assessment, and Curriculum (TC)
  • Research, Scholarship, and Career Advancement (RS)
  • Leadership and Management (LM)
  • Maximizing Technology (MT)
  • Clinical Dentistry and Systemic Health (CD)
