The Undiagnosed Initiative – Photo Exhibition

The Undiagnosed Initiative – Photo Exhibition is a collaboration between renowned photographer Rick Guidotti of Positive Exposure and the Wilhelm Foundation. Through the lens of photography, we invite you to discover the diversity and beauty of people living with a rare condition without a diagnosis. This way, we celebrate their unique stories and resilience.

More than 350 million people worldwide live with a rare condition, and in the Netherlands, more than 1 million. For 60% of them, the underlying genetic cause, and therefore the diagnosis, is unknown.

At Radboud University Medical Center, healthcare providers, researchers, and patients work daily to improve care for people with rare conditions. With 39 centers of expertise, specialized teams offer appropriate care, diagnosis, and treatment, and they also collaborate across Europe.

Radboud University Medical Center focuses on patient care, research, and education for rare conditions. Radboudum has 39 centers of expertise for rare diseases, where specialized teams collaborate to provide the best care, establish a correct diagnosis, and provide personalized treatment.

From these centers of expertise, we also collaborate at the European level to further improve care and conduct more research.

February 24: Start of the Undiagnosed Initiative photo exhibition

February 28: Rare Disease Day

April 23 and 24: The first Dutch Undiagnosed Hackathon, featuring various experts (including Larsen, Data Searchers, bioinformaticians, data analysts, and others) working intensively together for two days to diagnose undiagnosed patients using new genetic data.

April 29 is World Undiagnosed Day and the end of the exhibition.

The Undiagnosed Initiative – foto expositie

The Undiagnosed Initiative – foto expositie is een samenwerking van de beroemde fotograaf Rick Guidotti van Positive Exposure en de Wilhelm Foundation. Door de lens van de fotografie nodigen wij u uit om de diversiteit en schoonheid te ontdekken van mensen die leven met een zeldzame aandoening zonder diagnose.

Hiermee vieren we hun unieke verhalen en veerkracht.

Wereldwijd leven ruim 350 miljoen mensen met een zeldzame aandoening, in Nederland ruim 1 miljoen. Bij 60% van hen is de onderliggende genetische oorzaak en dus de diagnose onbekend.

In het Radboudumc zetten zorgverleners, onderzoekers en patienten zich dageliks in om de zorg voor mensen met zeldzame aandoeningen te verbeteren. Met 39 expertisecentra bieden gespeci-aliseerde teams passende zorg, diagnostiek en behandeling, en werken zij ook Europees samen.

  • Het Radboudume richt zich op patientenzorg, onderzoek en onderwijs voor zelazame aandoeningen.
  • Het Radboudum heeft 39 expertisecentra voor zeldzame aandoeningen, waar gespecialiseerde teams samenwerken aan de beste zorg, het stellen van een juiste diagnose en een behandeling op maat.
  • Vanuit deze expertisecentra werken we ook op Europees niveau samen om de zorg verder te verbeteren en meer onderzoek te kunnen doen

  • 23 en 24 april erste Nederlandse Undiagnosed Hackathon, warbi diverse experts larsen, Daterzoekers, bioinformatici, data analisten, et) twee dagen intensif samen werken om bil patienten zonder diagnose met nieuwe genetische data alsnog een diagnose te kunen stelen.
