Rick and the Pope

Dispatch from Rick…with the Pope!

Today, we introduced Positive Exposure to Pope Francis, and gave him a copy of our book and brochure. In English, he responded, “Is this for me?”

We are here to create opportunities at the Vatican to celebrate the beauty of human diversity, in honor of the Jubilee 2025, whose theme is Pilgrims of Hope.

“A spirit of welcome, which embraces everyone for his or her dignity, should be accompanied by a sense of responsibility, lest anyone be denied the right to a dignified existence.”

Joining us are Bishop Edward Bernard Scharfenberger (Bishop Ed) of Albany and Dr. Joe Dutkowsky, an orthopedic surgeon from Cooperstown who specializes in caring for individuals with cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities.

Image Descriptions: A series of photos show Rick meeting the Pope, who is dressed in white, sitting in a wheelchair, and surrounded by a group of people wearing black. In one photo, Rick is smiling and taking a selfie with the Pope, and in others, he is handing him a Positive Exposure brochure, which the Pope then holds and examines in his hands.
