Board Member: President of Project Accessible Oral Health, Founder of Healthy Athletes and Special Olympics Special Smiles, Co-Founder of the American Academy of Development Medicine and Dentistry
Dr. Steven Perlman was tapped by Eunice Kennedy Shriver to incorporate health into the Special Olympics program. This suggestion led Dr. Perlman to develop Healthy Athletes and Special Olympics Special Smiles, public health initiatives that have brought free screenings and wellness education to athletes, families, and clinicians. Dr. Perlman is also the co-founder of the American Academy of Development Medicine and Dentistry, which has been at the forefront of advocacy and training around inclusive healthcare. He is a professor of pediatric dentistry at the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine and has devoted his career to treating children and adults living with disabilities and difference. Steve’s currently the president of Project Accessible Oral Health.
