Ridgewood

Tuesday was a really fun day. I enjoyed it. Monday when we were driving there, after being picked up early from school, we got a flat tire on the New Jersey Turnpike, and we spent the next three hours getting it replaced.
Then on Tuesday I went to Ridgewood and spent the day, which was extremely fun. In the morning I saw Sarah at the hotel, the other girl with Sturge-Weber Syndrome doing the blog, and I met Dominga when I got to the school. The day went by fast. I like being part of this project because it’s fun and Rick’s a cool person. I didn’t know that there was going to be that many students there. It didn’t make me nervous until I got up in front of everyone to speak.
One thing I remember most about the day is someone at the end saying that she thought it was going to be a boring day, but it ended up being a great day because she learned a lot about people who have differences. She said she understood that even though we may have disabilities we have great attitudes about what we do and it doesn’t bring us down. It used to bring me
down – having a disability where I’m the only one who has it, but now I just incorporate it into my everyday life. The only thing that I’m not taking advantage of is scouts because I have kinda / sorta dropped out of my troop because I’m the only one who has to stay back when the others are doing hikes and other long things.
At the end of the day on Tuesday I hugged more girls than there are in my entire grade, and I talked to more kids than there are in my entire high school. I hope I get invited back!
