My Dog, Faye

By: Byron

This is my dog, Faye. People have been asking if I have a pet, and here she is.

Tonight I went to my sister’s chorus concert where they sang a variety of songs. My favorite was the last one, Dynamite.  It was a LOT of fun.

My birthday is coming up in a week, so I’m looking forward to that. I’m going to wake up in the morning, open all my presents, go to school, then come home, hopefully have no homework (but I know I will),   and have dinner, something I’m going to choose ahead of time. I’m deciding between California Combo or Mac and Cheese with breadcrumbs on top, which actually is really good.

Over the Thanksgiving break my family and I went to Mount Vernon for the first time to see George Washington’s house. It was very interesting. I saw his dentures, his tomb, and where his slaves lived, and  we went to the memorial for the slaves, which is a mini garden. When my mom and I were in South Carolina a few years ago we went to a plantation and learned about how the slaves lived there, and by the  looks of it,  they were treated better at Mount Vernon then at the plantation, but you never know how people are really treated. It’s interesting to see where the first President lived, especially getting there  because my sister was driving and she’s new at it.

For Thanksgiving I went to my mom’s friend’s house and luckily her husband is a chef. The food was unbelievably good, and after dinner we all played Pictionary with a giant easel that people people stand  next to and drew on. If you don’t know what it is, it’s like charades with pictures. You pick a card that has a word on it and then you draw it, as best as you can. It’s hilarious, sometimes!

Also on Thanksgiving break, my mom and I went downtown DC and tried to find a restaurant that’s only open once a month, but actually it was open the week before we were the because of Thanksgiving, but  luckily we were right next to Union Station, the enormous train station in the middle of DC so we went and had lunch there and looked at the train displays that were set up for Christmas.

It was an alright break, and now I’m back at school and glad to be there because the break was too long for me.

That’s all.
