Jonathan, Grace’s older brother, writes:

The other day Grace and I were taking a walk at a local park. The walk was beautiful with rolling hills, gorgeous weather, and a breathtaking view of San Francisco. But, that wouldn’t be a story. When we got back to the car, I immediately jumped back when I saw a 4 foot long rattlesnake flush against the right side of our car. I quickly blocked off the way to the car, pulling my sister away, and yelling to keep back. I came to a realization that day, a realization that I believe I’ve had for a while. I care more for her life than I do my own, and would protect her by all means necessary.
