One other trick that I have up my sleeve… I use OCR and then use VoiceOver to read the text for me. ????

ABBYY is a program that does optical character recognition (OCR) and then it can convert files into text files.  I use this on PDFs when they are terrible copies of scanned in articles…

This is the result on a word document.  Sometimes it makes mistakes but it is better than nothing.
