An exciting few weeks!

An exciting few weeks!
I’ve had an exciting couple weeks. Here is a new Blog…

Hi everyone! I recently competed in the state pageant for International United Miss (IUM) in Harrisburg, PA. I’ve competed in pageants before, but took a hiatus for a few years. I was itching to get involved again and chose IUM. For the competition itself, I competed in Introduction, Evening Gown, and Interview (which was 50% of the score). There were also some optional competitions that contestants could compete in; which I did Talent and Speech, winning the speech competition for the senior division. However, the most exciting part was the moment all the contestants had been waiting for…the crowning. I won my age division, making me the reigning IUM Pennsylvania Ms! The next step will be competing in the international competition held in New Jersey in July. My year will now involve appearances, speaking engagements, parades, and community service. I leave you with this message: “If anyone tries telling you that you can’t follow your dream, then go out there and prove them wrong! For the longest time, when I was younger, I thought I had no place in the pageant world because of my skin disorder, ichthyosis. I could never belong there. Yet, I like to challenge society’s view on beauty and enjoy trying to break molds. Now, I partly compete to show the little girls in the ichthyosis community that you can do whatever you put your mind to. No one is defined by any one thing. You are loved. You have value and worth. And you are enough. So, don’t hold back from pursuing your dreams because of what other people say. Instead, chase them wholeheartedly and who knows how many people you can inspire along the way.”
