Day 8 of 365 Days of Me

Today was my first day to return to school after having a winter break. I woke up this morning and my mom followed my usual school routine. I usually drink milk and take my morning medications. If I am tired, I will rest in bed a while before getting up. I was tired so while I was in bed my mom applied lotion to my hands and arms. I have scars on both of my wrists from biting and poking on them, so my skin gets very dry. I love when my mom applies lotion. She massages my hands and arms and I usually do not want her to stop because I like the sensory input. Once she finishes with the lotion, she helps me get dressed. I was quite helpful this morning. Sometimes I’m not (ha ha). Anyway, once I was dressed, I ate, and I lead the way to the garage while holding my mom’s hand. My mom was pretty sure I knew where I was going because she figured I recognized the routine. When we arrived at school, my mom called my teacher and one of her paraprofessionals came out to greet me. I was ready, and I got out of the car without any issues. I held my mom’s hand one more time and she kissed me on the forehead and told me to have a great day.

I rode the bus home from school. I was happy when I arrived, and my mom and Anna Celeste were waiting outside for me. Overall, I had a good day and I even brought home some artwork that I made before Christmas.
