This last week I had the honor of playing for a local high school musical “The Addams Family”.  I was in the orchestra pit playing keyboard.  This is something I started doing in college.  As a freshman, I was asked to be a rehearsal pianist for Cinderella and then joined the pit for the shows.  I was also the rehearsal pianist for Into the Woods and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.  It has been such a unique experience to take part in theatre in this way.  If I can’t be on stage performing, it is the next best thing.  Plus, I love watching the cast and creative team grow throughout the course of the rehearsals and shows.  I’ve played for this particular high school for a few years now (Aida, Seussical, Shrek).  My dance student Kaitlin Quinn played Morticia Addams.  I was so proud of her!  She is definitely going places.  She will be attending the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in NYC this fall.  Keep your eyes open…you might see her on Broadway someday!
