Being Independent
By: Rebecca, MSW
Hey, I was all excited to do a video blog today but I couldn’t switch between the front and back cameras while filming. I was making lunch and wanted to show you my countertop oven! It’s really neat and one of the best things I’ve gotten as far as being independent. It’s a fully functioning oven but smaller. :) I can’t use a standard oven because I have trouble bending down and reaching to put things in and out of it. I’m pretty little so I worry about burning my arms/hands if I even tried to do these things. But, with a countertop oven I can use wooden toast prongs to pull the rack out a little bit. It’s easier to put the pans on the rack this way, and I don’t have to get as close to the hot edges of the oven. Then, after the food is done cooking I can open the oven and pull the rack out a little bit again to let it cool. Depending on what I cooked I can sometimes use a spatula or fork to grab and place the food on my plate. This way I don’t need to touch the pans until they’re completely cooled. :) I cooked a frozen pizza and created this photo collage to give you a better idea of what my oven looks like!
I better go start preparing for my interview tomorrow…. I will update you guys on how it goes!
