Detroit Tigers baseball game
By: Rebecca, MSW
Last night my family and I went to a Detroit Tigers baseball game down at Comerica Park. I’m not a huge baseball (or sports in general) fan but it was okay lol. I was thinking about it and I’m pretty sure this was the “biggest” thing I’ve done besides going to work / volunteering in awhile. About halfway through the game I started fading, meaning I was tired and wanting to go home. :( I felt a little anxious too. I was prepared for a “crash” because I had extra medicine, my vent, mask, blood pressure machine & oxygen monitor (to spot check), and crackers & Gatorade. A crash for me has to do with my adrenal insufficiency diagnosis. Basically, my body doesn’t produce enough cortisol for what my body needs to handle a situation and everything freaks out. Cortisol regulates breathing, blood pressure and more. The vent is comforting when I crash because it helps regulate my breathing and takes a little stress off my body. But, I may have been a little bit OVER prepared last night haha. Oh well. Better safe than sorry. I made it to the end of the game. I also got some chocolate dippin dots ice cream so yay. I’m way behind the times because I’ve never had that before lol.
