Mall Adventure

Day 2 of 365 Days of Me:
I woke up this morning and I was a little tired from all the activity that has been taking place lately. Monday, I went to Galveston, Texas to visit the Pleasure Pier and the Strand, and yesterday I visited the Houston Zoo. I love to go places and explore but I needed a small break, so my mom let me relax in bed until I was ready to take on this day. Once I was ready, I asked for a car ride by taking my mom’s hand and walking with her to the door in our home that leads to the garage. She helped me into our minivan and strapped me into my Houdini-proof seatbelt. I was still in my pajamas with messy hair and sleepy eyes, but it was okay because we were just going for a drive. I love going on car rides and my mom is pretty sure I recognize the route we take each day. Once we returned home, I wanted to go again so my mom decided to get me some clothes to change into. Anna Celeste helped me get dressed while my mom gathered my backpack full of necessities. Once I was dressed, we all went for another drive. This time we ended up in a parking garage and I wasn’t happy about it. I cried a little because I thought I was going to see the doctor. My mom and Anna Celeste used American Sign Language to let me know that we were going to have fun, but I wouldn’t budge. I was afraid. Finally, with some assistance, I got out of the minivan and sat in my wheelchair. Once I was buckled up, we were on our way into a shopping mall. That’s when I realized that everything was okay. As always, my mom and Anna Celeste had fun placing hats and headbands on my head and glasses on my face. The last time I went to this mall they both dressed me up in sparkly dresses. I liked the dresses. That was fun. Today was fun too, especially since they bought me a soft pretzel!
