My Valentine’s Day Mad Lib POV: I’m at the Adaptations Dance and I Can’t Dance
By: Talia
I’ve waited 13 days for the Valentine’s Day dance and it’s finally here! I’ve picked out the perfect beautiful dress, splurged on some new Florence by Mills lip gloss and bought a pair of pink heels. J even asked me to be their date last week. It seems like it would be a fun night, but there’s one huge problem: I can’t dance. I’ve tried everything, from breaking it down to Dancing Queen by ABBA with my dad to pretending to slow dance with John Taylor of Duran Duran and even seeking out researching tutorials on Instagram. Nothing has worked. I still move like I have two left feet. At the dance, I rest from everyone all night long. The only person I talk to is Brooke (the program coordinator). but even she starts dancing during All Night Long by Lionel Ritchie. Karma! What’s a bejeweled girl to do? Just in time, J sees my pretty face. He takes me by the hand and leads me to the dance floor. “Lover” by Taylor Swift starts to play. I almost cry with fear. “I really can’t dance,” allow them, my cheeks turning a bright shade of red. “It’s OK, I can’t either!” they reply. They start doing Say So by Doja Cat in the middle of the dance floor. It’s so hilarious, but kind of cute? I start Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake laughing and crying at my crush. Best Dance Ever!
