So back in late May, I got another pig to show at the 2019 Fort Bend County Fair. Her name is Maybelle……it’s pronounced Mable……my dad and I came up with the spelling Maybelle because we got her in may and I guess she’s a belle. I really liked that her name is unique, but I keep calling her Peppa, the name of my last pig, and that makes me sad because I really miss Peppa ☹. So, now that I have Maybelle and Sammy, my steer, I spend more time working with them both at the barn and I had to manage my time more. It has been kind of difficult because I love hanging out with my friends and still want to work with Maybelle and Sammy. I think I’ve done a pretty good job balancing my home life with being able to come to the barn. For the first couple of weeks I couldn’t walk her, so I took a bunch of pictures and hung out with her so she would be more comfortable around me when the time came to walk her. First I began walking her a little bit inside the pen just to teach her what it means when I tap her on the right to turn left and stuff like that. Now for the last couple of weeks I walk her as much as possible. At first it was frustrating because she didn’t quite understand what I wanted her to do, but after a couple of day of working with her she began to do really well! She is definitely a super smart cookie and I’m looking forward to showing her!
