Rebecca’s Night Out
By: Rebecca, MSW
Saturday night I went to a fundraiser gala benefitting a local nonprofit organization. My department at work supports them both financially and by sharing information about their programs and services. I’ve had this dress forever and never had anywhere to wear it so I was super excited! I went all out- even got my hair done. I went with my friend and coworker Ryan. (Go back a few posts, I’ve mentioned him before). I swear, we didn’t match on purpose! We had a great time, he was very sweet in helping me out if I needed something. For example, he read / summarized all of the silent auction items for me as we looked at them because the font was super tiny. After looking at those for a little while we talked with a few people before going to our table for dinner. Even the food was “fancy”- a 3 course meal. The first course was salad and let’s just say I’m not a huge fan lol. But, I managed to have a few bites anyway. The second course was chicken, rice and broccoli (eww). The chicken and rice were great though. Finally, the third course was dessert: this chocolate mousse stuff, a cookie, and fruit on a stick. I gave my fruit to Ryan lol. During dinner they were also doing a live auction where you had to hold up your bidder number to participate. Ryan ever so helpfully let me know he would hold my card up whenever (and jokingly threatened to hold it up even if I didn’t) want something… I was like yeah I can’t afford ANY of this. :O Hahaha. Good times. There really wasn’t anything to do after dinner. We just stood in line to check out and see if we won any of the silent auction items. All in all, a good evening.
