The Big House

The Big House

Last weekend was one of the best weekends I have had all year. My dad and I flew to Detroit where we went to Ann Arbor to see a Michigan game. I should put it out there that my dad and I follow Michigan religiously so this wasn’t like any other football game I had been to prior. The whole atmosphere of Ann Arbor on game day was so exhilarating. We arrived four hours before the game and while walking around every person in some way or another had Michigan colors on or the Michigan logo somewhere on them. After we went to Chipotle we made the mile walk to The Big House (Michigan Stadium), which I was excited to see because of the oddest reason. The Big House is the largest football stadium in the country with 109,901 seats, which is where its nickname comes from and is why I was excited to see it. As we walked to the stadium we stopped at the Ross School of Business, which if I get into Michigan is where I want to study. We also walked by the famous M in the middle of one of the quads. My favorite part of our walk to the stadium though was the Fraternity parties. I wished I could just go jump into one of the parties and have a great time but I knew it would not end well for me if I did that. When we finally got into the stadium and arrived at our seats I thought it could not get any better than this. We were in the third row and could basically touch the field. When the game was about to start the marching band came on the field and I was shocked when more than two minutes went by and they were still coming out of the tunnel. After they did their thing the football team came out, which was exhilarating as well. During the game we crushed the opponent, which was Rutgers 49-16. The whole college football experience was something you’d never see in the NFL. They are at a whole different level. During halftime the band came out again and afterwards a military paratrooper landed on the 50 yard line, which I’d never seen at an NFL game. After the game I wanted to go see The Cube, which is named Endover it is featured in almost all of Michigan’s commercials. After we stopped by The Cube we went back to Chipotle and then headed out. The following morning we had a 6 AM flight back to Boston. I attached a picture of me before the game.
