The Yankees

Last month in September, I had another awesome chance to get up close with the Yankees on the field. My brother, dad, mom, and I arrived to the stadium at 5:00 in the afternoon before the game, which started at 7. Once we got to the gate, we met up with a worker, who handed each of us a VIP pass to hang around our necks. Hold that thought, let me rewind the story and tell you how I managed to win this special access.
My family and I are involved in a charity called “Races for Faces” that raises money for research to help kids that are born with the same problem as me. My team won by collecting the most donation. Since one of the Yankees wives is on our foundation’s board, we were given 4 VIP passes as a prize.
A Yankees employee led us down to the field. He gave us 1 baseball each and a pen in order to get the players’ autographs. We had to stay behind a blue rope along the Yankees dugout. There was only 1 family standing next us to with 2 young kids and their parents. A couple players came over during batting practice but most of them walked over when they were finished. I even got to meet Paul O’Neail. My favorite moment was when catcher Brian McCann came over and started joking around with us, and then he gave me his batting gloves. The only player that didn’t came over was A-Rod because he just ignored us and ran past, and didn’t even say hello to us or the other family standing next to us.
I had a blast at the stadium even though they got smacked around that night by the Blue Jays 10-4.
