What Do I Want People To Know About My Life As A College Student With A Intellectual Disability
By: Talia
I want people to know about my life as a college student with an intellectual disability, because I am smart and I want to help people learn more about my disability. As a college student with an intellectual disability, the things that are hard in college are the final exams, classes, homework, and free time, because I am always busy with important things that I have to do on an everyday basis. As a college student with an intellectual disability, the things that are easy in college are the friendships, clubs, studying with classmates, having the everyday food in the cafeteria or at the Union and enjoying college life to the fullest. The students help with daily life skills, doing laundry, speaking with the RAs if they need anything and learning how to navigate college life on a daily basis. I think people don’t know about their learning styles, their ways of communicating with one another and knowing how to deal with everyday life skills along the lines.
