I CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

By: Amy

Yesterday, I went to see my new Congresswoman, Katie Porter, take her community Oath of Office. It was very interesting to hear her story through the eyes of people from different parts of her life. She said, “Today I commit to never again waiting for someone else to tell me I can make a difference.” I think this is very important!

When you have a rare disease, you find that you voice is not always heard well. Sometimes, other people try to talk for you. That’s why we need to advocate and do things for ourselves. Keep speaking up until they hear your voice!

And, once we start using our voices, we show other people that their voice matters, too. Together, we can change how people see rare disease – together we can change the world!
